Skiing in Sainte Foy
Fantastic skiing for all ages and abilities
Sainte Foy has 35 km of slopes that remain remarkably uncrowded apart from the peak weeks of Christmas and school holidays. The skiing at Ste Foy is accessed initially via a single lift (in spite of which though, there are generally few queues, even in peak ski season) leading up from the resort to Plan Bois, at 1710m. From there, a further ski lift leads up to the Col de l'Aiguille at 2620m, from which you can then drop down to join the recently installed new lift La Marquise, leading from Charmettes at 1800m to Marquise at 2500m - opening up a series of red and blue descents.
The skiing at Ste Foy Tarentaise starts from the ski resort at 1550m, with slopes extending up to 2620m. In total, there are 35km of pistes, although the key attraction of Ste Foy is the off-piste skiing.
There is more than enough to keep children, beginners and the intermediate skier happy on the well groomed and pretty pistes. For advanced skiers there is superb, easily accessible off piste skiing which is where Sainte Foy comes into its own. There are 800 hectares of truly spectacular off-piste skiing. When the instructors from Val d'Isere want to ski on their day off, they come to Sainte Foy!
Ski passes are less expensive than those for the surrounding resorts. For the 2009/2010 season a six day pass set you back €135 with extra days at around €21.50. If you stay longer than two weeks, or plan to return a few times in a season, a season pass is €428. Passes include discounted days at neighboring resorts.
The ESF ski School offers small group and individual lessons, for children and adults at very reasonable prices.
